The VCT Cycle Centre

It will be a year in the making but I am now in a position to announce that by the end of July, we will have our hands on a new chalet that we will be converting into the VCT Cycle Centre. I am teaming up with Neil Ralphson (VCT member) for this adventure.

If Carlsberg chose locations for a cycling centre then this would be top of their list. It is at the bottom of the Col de la Colombiere, Col des Aravis and Col de la Croix Fry with so many route variations possible. It is technically in Saint Jean de Sixt but it is right on the Le Grand Bornand boundary and is only a short stroll (or ride) into GB.

The chalet currently has 4 bedrooms. There is also an attached 2 bedroom apartment that we will have access to if needs be. It also has a humongous bottom garage area which we will convert into the hub. It will have a cafe/bar, bike work area, storage area, bike cleaning area, massage bench (don’t worry, I will not be rubbing down) and more!!! This will not be open to the general public.

Neil also has a chalet in Le Grand Bornand which will become part of the cycle centre. This will mean that we will have two standards of accommodation available - “Pro-Continental” and “World Tour”, with Neil’s having a hot-tub, sauna and a few more luxuries.

The plan will be to use it as a base for you to come out for either your main cycling trip or warm up / training for one of the Sportives that we will tack on. You need to think about it as your place in the Alps.

We plan to start work on it this autumn but we will be using as it is now for our weekend in September discussed previously (16th to 21st September). Where hopefully, current virus situation allowing, we will see many of you here for some cycling and Tour de France watching.

To say that Neil and I are excited is an understatement.
